Will eating carrots improve my eyesight?

I’m sorry to tell you this, but carrots won’t improve your eyesight and prevent you from needing glasses.

Carrots are rich in beta carotene, which the body converts into vitamin A, a nutrient essential for retinal function, photoreceptor health, and low light vision. They also contain antioxidants such as lutein and zeaxanthin, which help support the macula and protect retinal tissue from oxidative stress.

But carrots do not correct refractive error. If you are short sighted, long sighted, or have astigmatism, no number of carrots will change the optical shape of your eye or eliminate the need for glasses or contact lenses.

Good nutrition supports ocular health. It does not replace optical correction.
